Here is the finished work for my fly-heart etching. I’ve started printing an edition of 10. I had forgotten how tedious printing is: 20 minutes preparation for each print, and it’s a small plate (3″X5″). I had the bad idea of leaving white borders around the drawing: they were hell to keep white! I’m extremely happy with the Charbonel water based ink, it works great and diffuses nicely, better than oil based ink I think. This plate was also the first time I’ve been using the palm wipe technique (using my hand instead of cloths and paper to wipe the plate) and that gave me more control over the plate tone. Palm wipe seem to work best with dry-point etchings.
